LEYTON BATHS - MINOR POOL

Summary

Recently certain sections of the tongued and grooved timber cladding tothe walls of the minor pool at Leyton Baths required attention and asubsequent inspection revealed that additional work needs to beundertaken.

The timber cladding which covers sprayed asbestos insulation requiresadditional fixing and this work needs to be put in hand. This will ensurethat there is no further deterioration of the concealed battens and anypossibility of the cladding becoming detached from the wall and revealingthe asbestos, will be avoided.

It is anticipated that the work required will take approximately five daysand the minor pool will have to be closed during this period. It istherefore suggested that the pool be closed during the school half-termperiod between 27th - 31st October, 1986.

Financial Implications

The cost of the work involved is £1,380 and this sum will be containedwithin the financial provision made for maintenance at Leyton Baths.

Recommendation

Members are asked to agree to the closure of the Leyton Baths minor poolduring the period 27th - 31st October, 1986 to enable the work to beundertaken.

Leyton Leisure Lagoon was named through a competition. I think the winner was one of the kids in Laura's year at Barclays!
