We went to Samaria, a national park. At the time southern Europe was basking in a heat wave. With temperatures in the 40°Cs even the Greeks were complaining. We took the easy trip (with a party of German tourists and a German speaking tour guide called Claudia).

But we got as far up the gorge as we could (though not as far as the very detemined party from the Israeli Kibbutz) and when we got back the Greeks told us we were heroes. They said so many people were having to be rescued as a result of the heat that they were going to close the park the following day!
