Improvements to Cow Bridge- starting mid-August 2011

Dear Resident,

The cental section of Cow Bridge which connects the north part of Hackney Marshes to Millfields Road will be replaced later this summer with a new lightweight steel span. The new bridge will retore single-carriage access for vehicles for the first time since 2005 and will include a separate pedestrian walkway making it wheelchair accessible for the first time.

The refurbishment will improve access to the North Marsh Changing Rooms which are due to e updated in 2012.

Works are due to start in mid-August, and will complete in early Novemeber. During this time there will be no access to the bridge. Alternative routes on to the Marsh will be cearly signposted.

There may also be some disrupion to local traffic during periods when the new bridge is beingdelivered. Exact dates for bridge demolition and delivery are to be confirmed but residents will be kept informed of all developments.
