Site Management Workshops on Saturday the 14th December 2013

The subject for what was described as the first in a series of Site Management Workshops (on Saturday the 14th December at the Waterworks Centre starting at 1.30pm) seemed likely to be a lengthy but reasonably futile Leyton Marsh Extended Phase I Habitat and NVC Survey Final Report London Wildlife Limited. In fact this was a report about Porters Field, a very small part of Leyton Marsh and it's prime purpose was to do the impossible. To prove that the ecology of Porter's Field had not been damaged by the temporary basketball courts during the Olympics fiasco .

Plainly the habitat had been damaged because the grass chosen to replace it was quite unlike the grass that used to be there before. It was also impossible for the promise that the original soil would be replaced because it was found to be too dangerous to do so. So this rather expensive report, like most such filled with standardised contents to make it more bloated than insightful, doesn't really tell you very much.
