caption In 5½ acres:

Liddington Manor, near Swindon.

"As may be seen from the picture below, trees form a feature of the 5½ acres of ground of

Liddington Manor
, at Liddington, near Swindon, Wilts. The property, which was available for £26,000 (Strutt & Parker/Farrant & Wightman), has a new owner.

"The manor is about the same age as Monteagle House and is a scheduled building. There are local claims that Elizabeth I slept at

Liddington Manor
in 1570 when she was delayed on a journey by the state of the roads. At any rate, until recent years there was a carved Elizabethan bedhead.

"The house is fully modernised and provides five bedrooms under its gable roof and behind its stone mullion windows."

(Hand written: 1970)

There are said to be two crests on either side of the front door, one of which is the Brind crest.
