| In the name of God Amen. I George Brind of Lyddington in the county of Wilts, Yeoman being sick in body but of a sound and disposeing mind and memory thanks be therefore given to Almighty God Do make and ordaine this my present Last Will and Teastament, in manner and form following (that is to say). First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through the merits, death and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ, to have full and free pardon and Forgiveness of all my sins and to Inherit ever Lasting Life, and my body I commit to the earth to be Dewlly buried at the Discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named and as touching the disposition of all comporall? Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth. First I will that all my debts and Funeral charges shall be paid and discharged. Item - I give to my Daughter Mary the sum of one shilling Item - I give to my Daughter Sarah the sum of one shilling Item - I give to my Son Walter the sum of one shilling Item - I give to my Son Benjamin the sum of one shilling Item - All the rest and residue of my personal effects, goods and chattels whatsoever, I doe give and Bequeath unto my dear Loving Wife Mary Brind whome I doe make sole and whole Exececutrix of this my Last Will and Testament. And I do hereby revoke, disannul and make void all former wills and testaments by me hereuntofore made In Witness whereof I said George Brind do set my hand and seal hereunto this the twentieth day of February In the year of our Lord 1722 / George Brind / sealed and delivered, published and Declared in the presence of Henry Portlock, Bartholomew Combs, Elizabeth Portlock. | In the name of God Amen this twentieth Day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred thirty four. I Mary Brind of Liddington in this county of Wilts widow being of sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First I give and bequeath unto my son Benjamin Brind my silver cup six silver spoons two silver salt cellars and my mare. Also I give and bequeath unto my sons Walter Brind and Benjamin Brind the sum of Fifty pounds Intrust nevertheless that they the said Walter Brind and Benjamin Brind and the survivors of them and the executors and administrators of such survivors do pay into the hands of my daughter Sarah the now wife of Thomas Raynolds the full Intruest of the said sum of Fifty pounds during her natural life by half yearly payments and from and after her decease Intrust that they the said Walter Brind and Benjamin Brind and the survivors of them and the Executors and Administrators of such survivors do pay the said whole principle sum of Fifty pounds into their children of my said Daughter Sarah as then shall attain the age of one and twenty years to be equally divided Between them share and share alike and the said Thomas Raynolds not to intermeddle therewith and the receipts of the said Sarah to be good and sufficient discharges of the said Intrust of the said Fifty pounds notwithstanding her covecture? Also I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Sarah Raynolds wife of Thomas Raynolds my silver salver and largest still. Also I give and bequeath unot my said son Benjamin Brind one pair of brass and irons and my large oval table now in my parlour and one chest of drawers bought from my son Henry Portlock's widow. Also I give and bequeath unto my son Walter Brind my silver tankard and all other household goods and other effects ** up thereof only herein before disposed of during his natural life and after his decease I give and bequeath the same to and among his three children Mary Brind Sarah Brind and Elizabeth Brind in equal shares and proportion. Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Phebe Saunders the sum of five pounds to buy her mourning and also my smallest pewter still.Also I give and bequeath all my wearing apparel as well linen and woollen unto and among my three daughters Phebe Saunders Mary Warman and Sarah Raynolds to be equally divided between them. Also I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said two sons Walter Brind and Benjamin Brind joint executors of this my last will and testament. Also I gave and bequeath and devise unto my said son Benjamin Brind and his heires forever all my freeland which I lately purchased of and from Elizabeth Portlock widow, lying and being in South Sarney otherwise Cerney in the County of Gloucester and and I hereby revoke all and every other will and wills by me formerly made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written. Notes: As Phebe Saunders is not mentioned in the will of Mary's husband George (1723) it is likely that she is Mary's daughter from her previous marriage probably to John Portlock. This will shows that she also had a son from that marriage, Henry who married Elizabeth and that they lived in South Cerney, Gloucestershire. There is a Phebe Portlock born to John Portlock in South Cerney in 1691. |
