September 2014: Hello Johnathan, I am researching the Brind side of my husband's Family Tree and was quite excited to discover your website. We are connected to the Wiltshire Brinds, so I don't think you and I actually have a connection. My husband is the great-grandson of Dr. Charles Edward Slade Brind, who settled in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the grandson of Charles daughter, Doris Brown (Brind). I have included a summary of our direct branch below. I would love to hear back from you. I have so many questions you may be able to help me with.
Gen. Sir James Brind (1808-1888) m. Johanna Brind (Waller)
Their son: Michael Joseph Brind (1848-1933) m. Agnes Brind (Whiting)
Their son: Dr. Charles Edward Slade Brind (1874 India -19? Toronto, ON, Canada) m. Daisy Brind (Strawson).

They had 2 children
1. Aubrey Michael Brind (b 1901 - d 1952)
m. Marjorie Inglis
- daughter Lucille Brind

2. Doris Brind (b 1903 - d 1975?)
m. James Grover Brown (1900-1967)
- Their 2nd son was Aubrey Donald Strawson Brown (1931 Toronto - 2014 New Hamburg, ON)
m. Dorothy Haggett (divorced)
- My husband Eliot (b 1963) is their youngest son.

A numbers count by generation for Doris Brown (Brind): 2 sons, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. We are all in the greater Toronto area, Ontario, Canada. Toronto, Mississauga, Burlington, Barrie, Ottawa. We lost contact with 3 of Doris' grandchildren (my husbands cousins), but I hope to find them in or around Toronto. There may be more great-grandchildren for Doris, and possibly great-great-grandchildren.

I still need to confirm some information with the family. I'm not sure if Aubrey Michael & Marjorie Brind had anymore children. I believe Lucille married, but no one can recall details at this time or remember if she had children. If that is the case then the Brind name died out on our branch with Aubrey Michael and Doris.

Thank you very much for providing such an extensive website. Again, I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Elke Brown (wife of Eliot Brown, grandson of Doris Brown (nee Brind).

From: To: j@brind.tv Subject: RE: Brind Family Tree Date: Wed, 17 Sep 2014 21:06:13 -0400 Hi Jonathon, Thank you for your quick response. In fact, I have already heard from David as well. I have not had much time to peruse the different stories, but I'm looking forward to the reading! I will discuss with my sisters-in-law & cousins how much detail they will allow to be included on the tree before we add it. As well, I am still in the process of trying to contact 3 additional cousins who may or may not wish to be included. It seems not everyone is enthusiastic about their family. A friend of mine who has done extensive research on his family tree gave me some good advice. Some family members don't want to be found, don't want any information about them out there, or they find out about other wives and children they knew nothing about. Luckily, it seems the majority are interested, and in my husbands family, I can see how much they truly support and appreciate the work I am doing on their behalf. My husband's father passed away just over a week ago. He knew I was working on the family tree and was looking forward to seeing it. Unfortunately, he never got the chance. I hope by the time we all gather for Thanksgiving in October, I will have a lot more information to share. I know they will love the stories. It will be a wonderful surprise for them.

Again, thank you very much for the information and having David contact me. I will definitely look at your recommendations you listed below. I will ask my sister-in-law to pull out the photo's again. I know there were a number of photos of Dr. Charles & Daisy, as well as Doris and Aubrey M, and of course my father-in-law, Aubrey DS. There are a few pictures of Agnes, and maybe one or two of Michael Joseph. I will keep you posted.
Thanks,
Elke
