This is Katy getting onto one of the trams. The city has a fabulous, modern integrated transport system: two lines of metro and a tram that has a terminus at a central point on the metro. For less than a pound you can go anywhere in Marseille, changing from bus to tram to underground train as often as you like, so long as your journey takes no more than an hour. The system is fast and frequent (though like most things in Marseille it stops surprisingly early) so a one hour ticket is usually enough. Instead of ticket touts you get small children hanging about at stations hoping to pick up tickets that are still valid.

We came across this parade of people dressed as Napoleonic soldiers and hangers on, when looking for a museum displaying a Roman warehouse. The soldiers looked hopelessly over dressed in the heat of a sunny June morning.
