Sustrans runs throughout the Lea Marshes. It looks like a road but actually gets less motorised traffic than the Sandy Path. Quite why it has to be tarmac is extremely hard to say since most of the service vehicles that use it have to be rough terrain by the very nature of the job they are doing. There's yet another bloody fence in this picture, this time with a gate. Sustrans is a sustainable transport movement that wants to get us all pedalling. This is a link to the organisation's web site . The sandy path seems to be perfectly accessible by bikes without tarmac.
