My grandmother (Florence May Brind) lived to her mid nineties and was an eccentric character of whom I was very fond and really she was born before her time. She was the type of person who could have tackled opening uo the Wild West. She and her husband were fired up with the benefit of education which is evident in her sons, especially Dennis who retired from a post of a Director of Rothamsted the agricultural soil science research establishment at Harpenden. Dennis was an acaedemic who spoke five languages. His (great?) grandfather, Mark Brind, started life as an agricultural labourer. Giant steps really. Best wishes, Mary.
