| Brind Mary, wife of Edward Brind died April 7, 1832? age 80 yrs., 1 mo., 12 dys This headstone needs to be checked for error, she was still living in 1870. 1870 Newfield census records: Edward Brind age 68, farmer, born England, Mary Brind, wife age 70, born Wales, keeps house, Thomas age 36, born England, works on farm. He was born abt. 1801 in England., and was still living in 1880 with his son in law, William Hine in Newfield. 1880 Newfield: William Hine age 52, b. England, Mary A. wife age 42, b. NJ, Minnie L., dau ., George age 18, Edward Hine age 16, Amelia age 12, David age 9, Charlie age 6, Edward Brind - Father - in - law, age 79 born England. They are also listed in the 1860 Newfield, NY census: Brind, Edward age 59 born England; Mary age 62 born Wales. |

| In the Name of God I Sarah Brind of the town of Marlborough being in perfect health of body and in perfect in and memory of my Body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die,, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament; that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the Hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I commend to the Earth of be buried in Decent Christian Burial, at the discretion of my Executors: nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God . And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it both pleased God, to ???, me in this life, I give, devise and dis pose of the same in the following manner and form . For the whole of my money (which is in Swindon Saving Bank, after paying my funeral expenses , to be equally divided among my five children viz Joseph Brind, Thomas Brind, John Brind, Edward Brind and Ann Escott.
Also I give unto my well beloved daughter Ann Escott besides her part of the money before mentioned all my wearing apparel and what else may belong to me, Confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal . This 8th Day of October In the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine. Sarah Brind Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and dclared by the said Sarah Brind as her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her porescence and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names. | The will seems to have been faulty (it lacked a proper administrator), so in 1834 after Sarah died the following was agreed. It looks like a guarantee in case anyone turns up and successfully contests the settlement. | ||

| Know all Men by these Presents that We John Brind of Codford Saint Peter in the county of Wilts victualer Isaac White of the city of New Sarum in the same county Pastry Cook and John Smith of Codford Saint Mary aforesaid.
Are held and firmly bound unto the Right Reverend Father Thomas by divine permission Lord Bishop of Sarum in the sum of 200 pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain, to be paid unto the said Lord Bishop. or to his certain attorney, executors, Administrators or Assigns, to which payment, well and truly made, we oblige ourselves and each of us by himself severally for the whole our and each of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents sealed with our seals, dated the seventeenth day of June in the fourth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord William the Fourth by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four. The condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden John Brind one of the lawful sons and one of the next of kin of Sarah Brind formerly of Marlborough but late of Devizes in the county of Wilts Diocese of Sarum and peculiar jurisdiction of the said Lord Bishop widow deceased and also administrator of all and singular of the goods chattels and credits of the deceased together with her last will and testament annexed no executor or executrix being appointed therein for the due execution thereof. Do and shall truly execute and perform the said will and pay the Debts and Legacies of the said deceased, as far as her Goods, Chattels and Credits will thereto extend, and the law bind him. And shall make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased, which since her death have and shall come to his Hands, Possessions, or Knowledge, or into the hands of possession of any other person or persons for him; and the same so made shall exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Lord Bishop of Sarum (if required) on or before the last day of | ||
