NOTE: It is clear that the date in the top left hand corner (1886) must be wrong. Jonathan Brind.
From: "Grahame Brind" Date: Sun Mar 23, 2008 10:04:48 Europe/London To: "Jonathan Brind" Subject: Brind Tree Hello Jonathan, I telephoned Wokingham Registry Office and asked them about the Birth Certificate of William Brind, the discrepancy of the dates and cert number. They looked out the relevant register and called me back. It seems that the page had started in December 1886 and the very next entry was William on 4th January 1887 with no change of year indicated. They have to faithfully copy the exact wording in the original entry, so that accounts for the year at the top of the certificate. The register was started in 1884 and the number 379 referred to it being the 379th entry in the register. Q.E.D. |
